Privacy policy

This page explains the information the current Broadcasters app and website use. The production services, data retention settings, and age policy still need to be confirmed before launch.

Who operates Broadcasters

Broadcasters is operated by Jacob MacDermott. For privacy questions or requests, contact [email protected].

Information used by the app

How information is used and shown

We use this information to create and secure accounts, show profiles, connect friends, operate live rooms, deliver audio you choose to share, receive safety reports, answer support requests, and maintain the service. Your handle, theme, background, profile photos, and song details may be shown to other signed-in users. People in a live room can hear audio and see comments shared there. Participants may capture or record audio outside the app.

Microphone, music, and live audio

The app asks for microphone permission when you use the microphone control. The local level meter measures input on your device. When you broadcast with the microphone enabled, audio is transmitted to the live room. The current app code does not include a broadcast recording feature. The production live-audio service is not configured yet, so its processing and retention behavior must be confirmed before this policy is final.

Music and soundboard files you send into a live mix are delivered to people in the room. Broadcasters does not own or claim rights to music or other third-party audio you choose to play. You are responsible for having permission to broadcast or reproduce it. Copyright or other rules may restrict recording, copying, or redistribution; unauthorized use may result in removal, account restrictions, claims, or legal penalties.

Service providers

The app is configured to use Supabase for account authentication, app records, and file storage. The current app configuration points to a staging project; production settings have not been completed. A LiveKit audio client and token API are present in the code, but production audio service settings have not been deployed. Cloudflare Pages hosts this website. Apple or Google may process information when you download or use the app through their platforms. The final provider list and each provider’s processing and retention settings must be reviewed before launch.

If you email support, your message and email address will be processed by your email provider and by the app operator so we can respond.

Retention and account deletion

Account and profile information is kept while the account is active. You can start deletion in the app under Settings → Account deletion → Delete account, or follow the instructions on the account deletion page. The current deletion function removes the account’s profile-photo and uploaded-track files, then deletes the account so related profile and social records are removed. Production deletion still needs an end-to-end check.

Deck files uploaded for live delivery may remain in private account storage until they are removed with the account; automatic cleanup of individual uploaded tracks is not implemented in the current app code. Provider backups, technical logs, and records required for security or by law may remain for periods set by the relevant service provider or legal obligation. Those exact periods are not yet confirmed.

Your choices

You can edit profile details, choose whether to enable the microphone, block or report accounts, sign out, or request account deletion. You can manage microphone and photo-library permissions in your device settings. To ask about your information, contact [email protected].

Children

The app’s minimum age and child-safety approach have not been finalized. This section must be completed before the policy is published as final.

Changes

We will update this policy if the app’s data practices or providers change. The final version will include its effective date and a way to contact us about questions.
